Night Crawling
Bushwick is known for its vibrant nightlife—for party goers spilling out of its many clubs, bars, and music venues at all hours of the night and early morning. The atmosphere of walking down Wykoff Avenue on a given weekend evening is electric. I was inspired to take these street portraits because of the creativity and camaraderie that exists there, it goes beyond club culture and towards something more human.
What is the dance floor if not a return to ancient rituals — a testament to life, to music, to connection, to the miracle of existing here at all?
About Beatrix
Beatrix is an artist working primarily in portrait and fashion photography. Originally trained as a painter, she worked at various artist studios as a painting assistant, painter, and graphic designer, and art director before discovering photography in 2020.
Since then, her focus has been on photographing folks in a way that feels raw, natural, and authentic to who they are. Her process is deeply reliant on risk, collaboration, and improvisation. She’s interested in the capacity for intimacy between photographer and subject, in the delicate nature of transient moments, and in embracing imperfect outcomes.
